Our Mission

LIVING BIBLE EXPLORERS EXISTS SO THAT THE CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILIES WE WORK WITH WOULD COME TO KNOW THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND GROW TO BECOME FAITHFUL FOLLOWERS OF HIM. THIS IS OUR JOY.

Our Vision

At Living Bible Explorers, our vision has always been for the kids and youth in our community to know Jesus. To make this vision a reality, we have become increasingly aware that we can’t just serve the youth - we have to invest in the family as a whole. While we do our best to minister to the entire family unit, there will always be limitations on the impact we can have.

Our ultimate goal and vision is to see every family in the West End plugged into the life of a local Bible-believing church within walking distance from their home.

People will age out of our programs and enter life stages for which we don’t offer programs. But no one will ever age or stage out of the life of the local church. The church offers community, stability, teaching, discipleship, support, and consistency - these are all things that every family needs!

We have a lot of work ahead of us to bridge the gap between local churches and LBE families.

Do you have any ideas on how we can bridge the gap? Let us know! We could use your help!

Our Ministry

Living Bible Explorers is located in Winnipeg’s West End and ministers to the surrounding community. We currently run programs for youth grades 7-12 and their families.

Our philosophy of ministry at LBE is to care for people relationally, physically, and spiritually. We plant seeds of faith in West End youth and their families, giving them a place to be safe, loved, fed, and introduced to Jesus. We do this through programs, providing many fun and engaging opportunities for meaningful conversations about Jesus and the Christian community.

To reflect our philosophy, each of our programs are built on three key pillars:

Relationship

We believe the best way to share the love of Jesus with others is by building genuine, loving relationships with them. Our programs provide the space for us to get to know people, and from there we can grow in love, trust, and respect. For us to do this well, we must each be firmly rooted in our own personal relationship with Jesus.

Food

We provide food at all of our programs and enjoy it together. Throughout the Gospels we see Jesus eating with people as he taught them. Food provides an invitation to gather, and from there we can connect and learn.

The Bible

We believe in the authority of the Living Bible and its power to change lives as we explore it and live it out. This is the basis from which we teach and love our community.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe the statements below to be core truths. We desire to allow freedom of conviction on other matters (e.g. Baptism, debt) provided they do not conflict with the Bible nor become an issue of division. All staff and volunteers must sign off in agreement with these statements.

  • We believe God has revealed to all people His truth in the Bible and that the original manuscripts were inspired and without error. We believe the Bible is the authority in all matters of faith and practice.

    • 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21, Romans 15:4

  • We believe there is one God, eternally existing in Three Persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe this triune God created everything both physical and spiritual.

    • Deuteronomy 6:4, Colossians 1:16, Matthew 28:19, Matthew 3:16-17

  • We believe God created human beings (male and female) in His own image and likeness and therefore with unique intrinsic worth from conception to natural death.

    • Genesis 5:1, Psalm 119:73, Job 10:11, 1 John 3:1

  • We believe the first humans (Adam and Eve) were created with a perfect relationship with their Creator and were appointed stewards of God’s creation. We believe they sinned by choosing to disobey God. Adam’s rebellion rendered all people sinful and incapable of achieving God’s standards – thereby bringing death into the human race.

    • Genesis 1:27, Genesis 1:28, Romans 5:19, I Corinthians 15:22, Romans 3:23

  • We believe that this judgment of God was remedied through Jesus Christ. We believe that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, thus able to live a sinless life and be the perfect sacrifice for sin. We believe that Jesus was fully God and fully human.

    • Romans 6:23, Matthew 1:23, Hebrews 9:14, 2 Corinthians 5:21

  • We believe that personal redemption has been accomplished solely by His shed blood, substitutionary death, resurrection, and ascension. We believe salvation is by God’s grace alone, through faith in Jesus Christ.

    • 1 Peter 3:18, Colossians 1:20, Hebrews 2:3, Ephesians 2:8

  • We believe all truth is God’s truth. We believe that truth is revealed in the God of the Bible and that He is real and that today, He is inviting people to put their lives under His control, so that He can give them abundant life here and eternal life with Him. We believe that Jesus is coming again and we look forward to that day when all things will be redeemed.

    • John 17:17, John 8:32, John 16:13, John 15:5, John 14:3, Acts 1:11, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

  • We believe that true followers (disciples) should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others and that their conduct should be a testimony of biblical values before the world. We believe that the cost of discipleship is high. We believe in a lifestyle of holiness and we believe through the power of Jesus and His resurrection we can be freed from all scripturally named personal and moral sin.

    • Luke 14:27, 1 John 2:3, Romans 6:11, Ephesians 4:22, Colossians 3:8, Romans 6:18

  • We believe the Bible teaches that marriage and family are the basic unity of society and our purpose reflects that belief. We believe that marriage refers to the covenant relationship between one born man and one born woman as instituted by God - to the exclusion of all others.

    • Hebrews 13:4, Joshua 24:15, Malachi 2:15-16, Genesis 5:2, Matthew 19:6

  • We believe that every person is directly responsible to God. We believe in the authority of government. In matters of disagreement between the Bible and government, we believe we must obey God. We believe that we can best promote our purposes by co-operating with other likeminded ministries, provided that truth of scripture is not compromised.

    • John 8:24, Romans 13:5, Acts 5:29, 2 Corinthians 13:11, 1 Corinthians 1:10, Romans 16:17, Titus 3:9
