Coming Soon: Wilderness Leadership Program

Matthew Peters

Growing up in the inner city has many challenges and struggles for children and youth. Living Bible Explorers’ new wilderness leadership program is designed to break the cycle of depression, lack of self-worth, and loss of motivation by leading youth through life-changing outdoor experiences and intentional Christian discipleship.

This program will provide opportunities for teamwork, leadership training and personal recreation skills which will benefit youth, their family, and their outlook on life.

The goal of this new program is to use challenging outdoor experiences and Christian teaching to engage youth with the truth of Jesus Christ and His love for them.

We are excited to be welcoming Matthew Peters on staff at LBE to head up this exciting new program. Matt has a diverse set of gifts and talents. He has been on missions trips as part of The World Race and CMU’s Ottatown program. He was trained at the G42 ministry school in Spain and was previously on staff at Camp Nutimik as their Outdoor Education Director. Matt has experience working with inner city youth through his work as youth leader at Mission Baptist Church and through his time volunteering at LBE. He is passionate about the outdoors and is a servant hearted leader, following after Jesus. Matt is married to our Assistant Manager Cheryl Peters and they are excited for this new opportunity for Matt to use his gifts to minister to LBE’s youth full time.

Programs will include:

Summer Camp

During July and August, this program will provide overnight camping trips and wilderness expeditions into remote areas. Our time will be filled with adventure, Bible studies, worship times, and lots of exploring and environmental learning.

Weekend Adventures

From September through June we will hold many weekend outings. These will range from day trips to overnights. Our focus will be on Christian teaching through growing relationships, Bible lessons, and outdoor adventures. Our activities will include: hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, challenge courses, and orienteering.

This program is set launch in spring of this year (2014). If you would like to donate towards this program, please go to our donation page for more information.
